What does Move to private do in #help?

Discord, #help: the Move to private button under the bot’s answer on your post

It turns your public #help post into a private conversation with the team in Support. Your question goes with it, you can add what you would rather not post in public, and the post gets one line saying it moved. From then on the answer comes in Support, on your computer or your phone, by email and under the bell, never in the channel.

Step by step

  1. Who can press itThe person who wrote the post, once their Discord is linked to BuildTrade™. The team can move a post too. Anyone else is told the post is not theirs to move.
  2. What you addA box asks for anything you would rather not post in public, like a receipt number. It is optional, and only you and the team see it.
  3. The public postWith no replies yet it is closed with one line, “Moved to a private conversation”. With replies it stays readable, locked, so other people’s answers are not lost. Nothing from the private conversation is ever posted there.
  4. Removing the postRemove my public post is in the conversation in Support, and under the note only you see in #help after the move. The bot deletes the post or, when others had replied, only your own messages.

Good to know

  • The team never DMs you on Discord. The only DMs from us come from BuildTrade™ with the APP tag, and only the alerts and reply notices you turned on. Nobody will ever ask you for a password, a code or your recovery phrase.
  • What you send to support is encrypted at rest, and every access to it is controlled and logged.
