How does the Risk % explorer help me pick a risk per trade?
Strategy › Results › Risk % explorer
The explorer draws your own R results at random, five hundred times, at eight risk levels from a quarter percent to five. For each it shows the chance of a twenty, thirty-five or fifty percent dip, the typical and bad-case end, and the risk of ruin. Type the dip you could live through; the levels that stayed inside it are marked. Nothing is pre-selected.
Step by step
- Pick the trade countFifty, one hundred or two hundred trades. More trades means more room for a long streak.
- Type your dipThe deepest fall from a peak you could sit through without changing the rules. It is empty until you type it; the tool never fills it in for you.
- Read the rowsDip columns: the share of runs that fell at least that far. Typical end: the middle run, as a multiple of the start. Bad case: the fifth-worst in a hundred. Ruin: the share that lost three quarters.
- The marked rowsLevels that stayed inside your dip in ninety-five of a hundred runs. If none did, the edge at that trade count is deeper than that dip.
- Use thisSends the tested rules back to the builder sized by risk at that level. Save the strategy to keep it.
Good to know
- The bad case you could not sit through is the one that ends a trader, not the typical one.
- The same rules at five percent a trade can carry a real chance of ruin while at one percent they carry none; the rules did not change, the size did.
