Connect an AI assistant
Claude and other AI apps that take MCP connectors can work with your BuildTrade™ account. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard they use to call outside tools. Add https://api.buildtrade.app/mcp as a connector, sign in, and choose whether the app may place orders. It is part of the Builder and Architect plans.
Connect it
- Copy the addressIn the web app, open Settings › Security › AI assistant and press Copy address. The address is
https://api.buildtrade.app/mcp. - Add a connectorIn Claude on the web, desktop or phone, or another AI app that takes MCP connectors, add a custom connector and paste the address.
- Sign in and AllowA BuildTrade™ page opens. Sign in, choose whether the app may place orders, then press Allow. Cancel connects nothing.
- Ask it somethingFor example “What are my open positions?” or “Explain RSI the way the app does.” The AI app picks the tools it needs from the list below.
What it can do
Each group links to its tools, with what each one needs and whether it only reads, makes changes or trades.
- Help & knowledgeAnswers from the help center, the guides, the indicator explanations and the glossary: the same words the app uses.4 tools
- Market dataPrices and where volume traded, for any Hyperliquid market. Read only.3 tools
- Account & tradingWhat is in your account, and the three tools that trade. Each trading tool works only if you let the AI app place orders, and tells you what it will do before it does it.5 tools
- Strategies & backtestsWrite, change and test strategies on past prices. Nothing here trades.7 tools
- EdgeWhat your test results say about risk, worked out from your own trades. Nothing is recommended.3 tools
- BotsSee your bots, and start, stop, pause or resume one. Each of those works only if you let the AI app place orders, and tells you what it will do first.2 tools
- AlertsSet, change and delete alerts on price, chart lines and indicators. These don’t need May place orders.5 tools
- Trading booksPassages from the trading-book library. The hosted connection doesn’t include the library: there these tools say so and point to the help tools.2 tools
- Watchlists & screenerYour saved lists and screens, and a screener over every Hyperliquid market.3 tools
- Live chartWork on the chart in your open web app. Needs the chart link; a notice shows on screen while it is used, and nothing here places orders.5 tools
What it can’t do
- Move money out. No tool withdraws or transfers funds.
- Trade unless you said so. Orders, cancels, closes and bot actions work only if you switched on May place orders when you connected it, and each one tells you what it will do before it does it.
- Trade through your chart. The chart link changes what the chart shows and draws on it; it places no orders.
- See your password or reach your exchange account by itself. It sees only what each tool sends back.
- Read the trading-book library. The hosted connection doesn’t include it; those two tools say so and point to the help tools.
Let it use your chart
On the same card in Settings › Security › AI assistant, switch on “Let the AI assistant use my chart”, then keep the Trade screen open in that browser. The AI app can then change the market, interval and indicators, draw with the chart’s own tools and take a picture of the chart. A notice shows on screen while it works, and it works while you talk to the AI app on your phone.
See and disconnect your AI apps
Settings › Security › AI assistant lists each AI app: when it was connected, when it was last used and whether it may place orders. Revoke stops it at once. To change whether an app may place orders, revoke it and connect again.
Which plans include it
Builder and Architect. On the free plan the sign-in page says “Connecting an AI app is part of the Builder and Architect plans. You can change plan in Settings › Subscription.” and nothing connects. The web app is complete without an AI app, and the same plan limits apply either way. Compare the plans.
For developers
The same card has personal tokens for the local helper, set up in a Claude Desktop config file. A token is shown once, expires after ninety days, and Revoke stops it at once. Personal tokens, step by step.
