Why does my bot keep trading after losses?

Bots › the bot’s page › Settings

A bot follows the rules you tested, and rules with an edge still have losing runs, so several losses in a row are expected, not a fault. Stopping after each loss would turn it into an untested strategy. It halts only at a limit you choose: the daily loss limit pauses it until you resume it, and the maximum drawdown stops it.

Step by step

  1. DrawdownIn Strategy › Results: the deepest fall the test saw. A longer losing run is still possible, because the past is one sample of what can happen.
  2. Daily loss limitOn the bot’s page under Settings. When a day’s losses reach it the bot pauses and stays paused until you press Resume. 0 turns it off.
  3. Max drawdown (auto-stop)On the bot’s page under Settings. When the bot falls this far below its highest point it stops, and its page says why.

Good to know

  • Each limit is a choice, not a fix. A limit the backtest never saw makes the bot behave differently from its test, so compare the two before relying on either.
  • A losing run is easier to sit through when you knew its likely length before you started. The drawdown guide shows the arithmetic.
