What does the accounting export contain?
Accounting
Accounting turns your live Hyperliquid trading into numbers your accountant can use: realized results, fees, funding and borrow interest, by coin and by month, in your currency. Export journals for QuickBooks Online, Xero or Sage, a CSV of every event, a Koinly-style CSV or a one-page PDF. It is for reference only: it reports what happened and is never tax advice.
Step by step
- Pick the periodQuarter, Half, Year or Custom, with the arrows to step back and forward. Periods follow the fiscal-year start and the time zone in Accounts & method.
- Read the summaryOne sentence with the period’s result, then By asset and By month. The balance check says whether the recorded events add up to the balances Hyperliquid reports, to the cent.
- Accounts & methodYour country, cost method, currency, date order, time zone, fiscal-year start, and the account name or code each app should use. Suggested accounts say Suggested — check with your accountant, with the ones to create first.
- ExportQuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, CSV, Koinly-style CSV or PDF summary. A short notice opens first; tick I understand and the file downloads.
- Your recordsThe Collect my records switch, each wallet’s last reading, and Delete my records. Off means nothing new is read from Hyperliquid; what is saved stays until you delete it.
Good to know
- For reference only — a record of what happened in your account, in your accountant’s format. Not tax, legal or accounting advice: it does not apply your country’s tax rules for you, and what you report is your responsibility. Keep your own records too, and check these numbers with an accountant or tax adviser before you file.
- Cost method by country: Canada uses average cost (adjusted cost base), as the CRA does for identical properties; the United States first in, first out within each wallet, the IRS rule when you have not named the units sold; elsewhere you pick, with first in, first out preselected. The method, and what your country’s rule adds, shows under your country.
- Within each wallet: costs are worked out per wallet this screen reads. The CRA and HMRC average over every unit you own, in any wallet or exchange, and HMRC first matches same-day buys and buys in the next 30 days, which this file does not do. Coins held elsewhere are not in these numbers.
- Covered: perpetual and spot trades, fees, funding, liquidations, builder and referral fees, and borrow interest. Staking, vaults, rewards, deposits, withdrawals and transfers are not itemised; they show as one line, Moved in / out or outside trading — not covered.
- Trades placed outside BuildTrade™ are included, tagged By hand or outside BuildTrade™; a bot’s trades carry its name. Testnet is labelled Testnet — practice money and never mixed with live.
- Estimated cost: coins that arrived outside trading enter at that day’s value and are marked estimated cost, on screen and on each export line. If they came from your own wallet, your real cost is what you paid for them; give your accountant that figure. Cost needed marks a sale with no known cost.
- The Koinly-style CSV holds trading only, in UTC. Koinly works out its own cost and prices, so its totals can differ from these, and it may ask for the cost of coins that arrived outside trading: add those in Koinly yourself.
- Currencies: US dollars as they are; Canadian dollars at the Bank of Canada’s daily rate; 28 more at the European Central Bank’s rate, through the euro. USDC counts as one US dollar. Each line shows its rate and source. A day with no published rate (weekend or holiday) uses the last rate published before it.
- Years by plan: the free plan downloads a plain list of live trades; Builder shows this year and last; Architect and up show every year. After a downgrade, older years are hidden and kept for 12 months, still downloadable, then deleted. A notification offers the download when they are hidden and again 30 days before they go, and the screen counts the days. Moving back to a plan with those years within the 12 months brings them back.
- Hyperliquid keeps only your 10,000 most recent fills. Records collected here keep everything from the first reading, so a busy account gains most from turning collecting on early.
