What does Unverified next to a spot token mean?

Trade › the pair selector, the market bar and the order ticket on spot

Anyone can list a spot token on Hyperliquid and pick its name, so a token can borrow a well-known coin’s name without being that coin. BuildTrade™ shows a coin’s name and logo only for spot tokens on its checked list. Every other token shows its own ticker, its pair number and an Unverified tag, and stays tradable.

Step by step

  1. Look for the tagIn the pair selector, the market bar, watchlists, the screener, Movers, Accounting and on the phone, a token we have not checked shows a grey disc, its own ticker, its pair number such as @303 and Unverified. Point at the tag for a short explanation.
  2. Check the pair numberThe @ number is the pair’s own address on Hyperliquid, and nobody else can take it. Compare it with the one the token’s project publishes before you trade.
  3. The first order asks onceYour first order on an unverified token opens a short notice. Continue with this order goes on to the usual confirmation; Not now leaves the order unsent. It asks once per token on this device, and a different token with the same name asks again.

Good to know

  • A token is checked when Hyperliquid lists it in its own app and its token number and token id both match the entry BuildTrade™ keeps for that coin. A name alone is never enough, and neither is a matching number alone.
  • A token Hyperliquid listed recently can stay unverified until it is added to our list. Unverified says only that BuildTrade™ has not checked it, nothing about the token itself.
  • The name a token’s creator typed for it shows only in the notice, quoted as theirs, never as the token’s name.
  • Unverified tokens come after checked markets in searches and lists, and pairs Hyperliquid does not list show only with All spot pairs on. Your favourites and the pair you have open always show in the pair selector, and Accounting lists every token you hold.
  • The AI companion sees the same check: a spot market it reads says whether it is verified, and it asks you before placing an order on one that is not.
