# Why does a spot pair show BTC when the exchange calls it UBTC?

Trading · Where: Trade › the pair selector › Spot · Updated 2026-10-25

Spot pairs carry the names Hyperliquid’s own app shows, so the bridged bitcoin token UBTC appears as BTC and UETH as ETH. Your orders still go to the exchange under its own name for the token, so nothing about the trade changes. The Spot list opens on the pairs Hyperliquid lists in its own app; the rest are one click away.

## Step by step

1. **Search by either name** Typing BTC or UBTC finds the same pair, in the pair selector on the desktop and on the phone, and in the strategy builder’s symbol list.
2. **Listed by Hyperliquid** The Spot tab shows the pairs Hyperliquid lists in its own app. Your favourites and the pair you have open always show, listed or not.
3. **All spot pairs** Switch to All spot pairs to see every spot pair the exchange trades. The choice is remembered on this device. When a search finds nothing in the listed pairs but matches others, the list says so and offers to show them.

## Good to know

- A pair outside Hyperliquid’s list has not been reviewed by Hyperliquid. Names can repeat on spot, so check the pair before you trade it.
- BuildTrade™ compares its names with Hyperliquid’s app every half hour and is told when they differ, so a rename on Hyperliquid’s side gets updated here. Until then a pair may show the exchange’s own token name, never another coin’s.
