# What happens to my bots when my plan or the beta ends?

If the beta or your plan ends and the next allows fewer bots than you run, those started last can pause, never without a notice three days ahead naming them. Choose which to keep on Bots › Plan change, or upgrade. On a plan without live trading, a live bot pauses before its next trade. Open positions keep their stop loss and take profit.

## Step by step

1. **The notices** A week before the end, three days before, and at 9:00 your time the morning before, in the app and by email; Settings › Notifications › Your plan decides where else. When the beta ends, every account whose plan changes hears. When a cancelled plan ends, you hear only if it changes what your bots can do.
2. **The heads-up** Three days before, it names each bot that pauses and when, in the app even with bot alerts muted there, and by email or Discord where you get Bot stopped alerts. No bot pauses for the number of bots without one. If your plan drops again before then, a new heads-up names them all, with a new date.
3. **Plan change** Bots › Plan change lists each running bot and what the coming plan does to it; the line on Bots and Plans & Pricing, and See what changes in a notice, open it. Keep makes a bot one of the first to get a place, at once. Pause frees its place now, its open trade still looked after. Keep everything opens the Architect plan: the payment page on the free plan, Plans & Pricing on a paid one.
4. **Which bots keep running** The ones you keep, then the ones started first, up to the plan’s limits for paper and live bots. You can keep as many of each kind as the plan runs. Pausing or stopping bots yourself before the date decides it too, and a notice says once none will pause.
5. **Live bots** A plan without live trading runs no live bot, so live bots can’t be kept on it: each pauses before its next trade, its open trade still looked after. Upgrade to keep them trading.
6. **What a paused bot does** It opens no new trade. A trade it holds stays open and is still looked after: its stop loss, take-profit and exit rules work as usual, and Close trade on its page still closes it. A live bot’s stop loss and take profit stay on the exchange; BuildTrade™ keeps watching a paper bot’s. Its page and event log say it paused for the plan.
7. **Resuming** A paused bot never restarts by itself. Upgrade your plan, or pause another bot to make room, then press Resume on its page; past the limit, Resume says how many bots your plan allows.
8. **The beta** While the beta runs, every account has the Architect plan’s limits. When it ends, each account goes back to its own plan: Apprentice when none is paid.
